My new spindle

My new spindle

I have a new toy! Whee! I got this beautiful spindle from spinsanity.etsy.com and it's just wonderful. I have been looking for a lightweight spindle to make lace yarn for ages and this one is just what I wanted.

I only tested it for a little while today but I was amazed how fine a yarn I could make and I could just go finer and finer and finer. It's perfect. And despite being really lightweight, it spins and spins and spins with no signs of slowing down.

I highly recommend this seller if you're ever looking for a spindle and want something that is both beautiful and works well.

And what then - I got this little bit of greyish-blueish wool with the spindle and I'll spin it first. I know exactly who I'll make something for with it, but I don't know yet what that something might be. I only have a small sample of the roving, so it won't be anything really big.

And once I have spun that up, I'll start on working with the gorgeous green roving my friend gave me. One night I already separated the shades of greens according to their colours and I will try to make a shawl (or scarf, maybe) amount of yarn with slow, graduating colour changes.

it's so fine. somhow, with the shade, it reminds me of unicorn hair :-) I am also curious what you'll be doing with the green wool/yarn.

Your spindle looks beautiful. Now I want to have one too. Spinning is very magical, a metaphor for the living of ours lifes, spinning the thread of life. I had a look at the shop you mentionned and they sell a very nice red spindle. Maybe mine? Are there different kinds of spindles for differenkt kinds of yarn? I would just love to try something, to play around with it. Maybe you can recommend me a certain spindle?
